Quality of Care

rated 4/4 stars

We’re proud of the many awards our care teams win for the quality of care they provide.  Kaiser Permanente health plans continue to be rated among the best in the nation for consumer experience, prevention and treatment.  For eight years, we’ve been awarded 4 stars (out of 4) by the California Office of the Patient Advocate.  We’ve also won top marks from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).  Their annual report rates more than 1,000 health plans, including Medicare, Medicaid and Private (Commercial), on a 1-to-5 scale, with 5 being the best. Only 21 health plans in the country were given a 5 out 5 in 2016, and 8 of those 21 high-rated plans were from Kaiser Permanente. All of our plans were rated 4.5 or higher.

Mental Health Scores 4/4 Stars

For the sixth consecutive year, Kaiser Permanente’s Medicare Health Plans in California has received the highest overall rating for care quality and service, earning 5 out of 5 stars from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for 2017.

Our Medicare health plans have consistently received high ratings since CMS began awarding them in 2009. One reason is our model of care, which enables care teams to serve patients using a coordinated, seamless approach. By combining care and coverage, we all work toward the same goal — the health and well-being of our members.
